SACRAMENTO ALUMS UNITE!With over 400 registered alumni and 600 member serving annually, Sacramento continues to be one of the cities/regions with the strongest AmeriCorps Presence in the Country. Home to one of five NCCC campuses in the nation, the offices of the California's State Commission on Service and Volunteerism (CaliforniaVolunteers), and a large number of vibrant AmeriCorps State and VISTA programs, Sacramento is uniquely positioned to andvance the mission and ideals of National Service.
The Sacramento AmeriCorps Alums Chapter seeks to connect, mobilize and inspire current members and alumni to turn their AmeriCorps term into a lifetime of service. To get things started, AmeriCorps Alum, Ana Estrada organized an AmeriCorps Week Happy Hour. The event was a true success with several enthusiastic Alums and Current Members in attendance. New connections were made and long-standing collaborations were reinforced. The collobarative spirit was evident in every introduction and conversation. The Sacramento AmeriCorps Alums chapter is now primed and ready to "Get Things Done" for the Sacramento community. Within the next few months, the Chapter plans to build it's active membership, host/join in on a series of one-day community service projects, and capitalize on the momentum which is clearly building.
